Makayla Barrientos is the Director of Marketing and Communications at United Way of Amarillo & Canyon, where she leads strategic marketing initiatives and builds meaningful connections across the Texas Panhandle. Since joining in June 2025, she has focused on amplifying the organization’s voice, engaging the community, and creating campaigns that inspire action.
A Canyon native, Makayla earned her degree in Advertising and Publications from West Texas A&M University in 2018. Prior to joining United Way, she spent four and a half years in healthcare marketing at Northwest Texas Healthcare System, honing her expertise in brand strategy, communications, and digital engagement.
Outside of work, Makayla is all about family, friends, and baking—or diving into whatever random hobby catches her curiosity. A lover of online humor and internet trends, she brings a playful energy and creativity to both her professional and personal life, keeping her work fresh, engaging, and relatable.
